The 1st Watercolour Festival of the Czech Republic will be held by IWS Czech Republic on 3-9 August 2018
Dear watercolour artists from all over the world, it is a big honour for us to organize this historic event, where under the roof of the most beautiful gallery Manes in mysterious Prague we will be celebrating our international relations in contemporary art of watercolour media. Through this demanding and beautiful art we can represent our cultures, traditions, values, share love, peace and tolerance. During the Festival we will have the opportunity to exhibit our works of art, enjoy the music accompaniment, show our skills in watercolour media and discover the beauty of magical Prague and other picturesque Czech towns, as a part of the painting holiday. This festival is dedicated to Czech-Ukrainian relations and is under the auspices of IWS Globe – International Watercolor Society, IWS Czech Republic – International Watercolor Society for the Czech Republic, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic, Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and Municipality of Prague.

Date of exhibition with demonstrations and cultural programme: 3-5 August 2018

Participation fee: 97 Euro (95+2 Euro bank fees) Participation fee includes: framing of painting, exhibition of painting, catalog with your painting, delivery of artwork to the artist or country head, certificate of participation, welcome drink at the inauguration of the exhibition. (the delivery of the catalog to those artists who will not participate personally is on request and at the expense of the participants) A detailed program of the exhibition will be announced in July 2018.

Rules and Conditions
-Watercolour artists aged 18+ from all over the world can apply for the Festival
-Watercolour original only will be accepted (no collage, pastels, class work, digital images, any form of print or reproduction or copies or likeness of another artist’s works, no work exhibited at another exhibition)
-The original painting must be painted within last 2 years -Each artist can submit one image only
-Topic: Unrestricted (national identity topics welcomed)
-Size: 56X38 cm (horizontal or vertical) -By applying, all artists give their consent that their artwork may be used for advertising purposes – Works must be selected from each country by appropriate country head of IWS
-Participation will be free of charge for country heads who submit 10+ paintings from their country -Country head has to send all paintings, application forms and b/w profile photos of artist together
-Participation fee for the selected artists is 97 Euro for Europe Union countries (Each side pays to his bank (SHA).
Other countries is 97 Euro (Payer pays all (OUR) .

Submission of digital image
For the catalog we need: digital images of the paintings, Black and White Profile Photo of Artist and Application forms Everything must be sent together in one email by the country head. The digital images can be in the following formats: JPEG,TIFF. If your mailbox does not allow sending of large files, you can use this program: https://wetransfer.com or similar. The Digital image, B/W Profile Photo and Application form must be named by the artist’s name and surname.

-Size of image: for the best presentation, resolution should be 3-5MB, 300 dpi, without frame or mat, no digital enhancement is allowed. Fill the Application form only by using computer not by hands!

Submission of original watercolour paintings
All artists whose work is selected for the Festival will receive instructions for shipping and delivery.
-Original art work must be submitted along with filled application form pasted at the back side of painting. Please fill the application form with capital block letters. The use of Word is recommended
-All selected artists have to send their original work as non-commercial

The organizers of the Festival will take great care when handling works of art but IWS Czech Republic will not be responsible for any damage or loss, whatever the cause. We suggest that artists carry their own insurance.
Holiday Painting of IWS Czech Republic 6-9 August 2018
This holiday will consist of day trips from Prague to a number of historical cities (1-2 hours distant from Prague). For this reason, accommodation is not included and participants are expected to book their own accommodation. The holiday painting includes transport to and from the cities, lunch and dinner (some with a cultural programme) and guided tours of various historical monuments. (The program is liable to change).
Day 1 We will visit the beautiful city Hluboka nad Vltavou. We will go on a guided tour of the city’s fairytale chateau which will amaze you by its unique interiors full of art collections and its amazing garden where you can paint. After the tour we will have a Czech lunch at a local restaurant and time for painting. Then we will move on to the historical city Pisek, where you will have time for painting and sightseeing. We will finish the day with a dinner and return to Prague.
Day 2 On the second day we will go to the picturesque town Kutna Hora. There we will visit the Ossuary, the unique chapel and Roman Catholic St.Barbara’s Church. It is one of the most famous Gothic churches in central Europe. There we will have lunch, plainer and we will move to another city Detenice, where we will have an extraordinary dinner with a Medieval performance after which we will return to Prague.
Day 3 On the third day we will visit the well-known spa town Karlovy Vary. In this city you will have an opportunity to taste the healthy mineral water of different temperatures. After sightseeing and painting we will have lunch and move to another Czech city Loket. Here we will visit the 12th century gothic castle and we will have a very typical Czech dinner with live music. Then we will return to Prague.
Day 4 The last day of our holiday painting we will make a trip to Karlstejn Castle, Karlstejn town. The Castle was founded in 1348 by Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor. We will have the opportunity to visit this beautiful Castle inside with a guide. After the tour we will have a Czech lunch at a local restaurant and time for painting. Then we will return to Prague where you can enjoy the beauty of the city and we will have a closing holiday painting dinner.
