1st Universal Watercolor Exposition 2018 – Call for Entries

Universal Watercolor Exposition, the Olympic summit of watercolor art in IWS’ blueprint is designed to meet the new height of the contemporary world painting art. Through the Universal Watercolor Exposition, we want to build a high-end platform, to demonstrate watercolor classics, to offer opportunities, to highlight the top level and to lead the development of the world watercolor art. We will make all effort to make Universal Watercolor Exposition the world’s most grand watercolor event, and to use watercolor art to interpret the “Olympic” spiritual connotation of a higher and stronger degree , to achieve the common goal of all the human beings “unity, friendship, peace, progress”.

The release of our Call for Entries Invitation for the 2018 Universal Watercolor Exposition in May 2017 was received with overwelming response. Many watercolor artists from all over the world have signed up eagerly. In order to provide participants with more sufficient time for their creations, we decide to extend both the solicitation deadline and the exhibition commencing date for six months. As such this is the amended version of the Call for Entries Invitation.

Competition Program:
We invite contributions from watercolor lovers worldwide. Every IWS member country will recommend about 20 artists of their own country, artists can also submit their own entries. The  Selection Committee jwill review all contributions carefully and impartially choose about 100 works to show on the Exposition, and then select 12 winning entries.
Competition Procedure:

Entries Submission : July 2017 to June 2018
2.
Selection: July 2018 to August 2018 (choose shortlisted works)
3.All the shortlisted entries received, and winning entries selected in September 2018.
4.The guests of Opening Ceremony and exhibitor artists will register on 20th October, 2018.
5.The Opening Ceremony and Awards Ceremony of the 2018 Inaugural Universal Watercolor Exposition will be held on 21st October, 2018.
6.Every artist can submit up to 2 watercolor entries.
7.The entries should be original works executed within 2 years (after January 1, 2016).
8.Size of works submitted:  the width of the works should not be less than 45cm and length should not  be more than 120cm. Please contact the organizer in advance if there are any special dimensions. No mounting is required.
9.The works should be submitted via e-mail. The mailbox that accepts the submission isuwexpo@163.com
10.The format of the submission mail name should be “Nationality + City + Name”. The email should be written in English or Chinese. Please provide the following information:
11.Digital picture of the 1 or at most 2 works (JPEG format, 2-3MB, resolution of not less than 300DPI, picture name should be”Nationality + Artist Name + Works Name + Works Size”, size in centimeters, height * width)
12.The picture of the artist’s identity documents, at least states the name, nationality, date of birth, gender, ID number and other information.
13. One recently taken, full-faced photo of the artist (for album publishing)
14.The date for submitting of entries is from July 1st, 2017 to 24:00 on June 30th, 2018 (subject to postmark of the mail).
The artist of the shortlisted works will receive an e-mail of the “Shortlisted Notice”, which include an invitation of the Opening Ceremony and Awards Ceremony and a notice to send the original works (the original works must be consistent with the mail entries). And unsuccessful works will not be notified.The Selection Committee will select winning entries after all the shortlisted entries received.
 
 Awards
12 winning works will be selected from about 100 shortlisted works.
One Gold Award, Cash prize RMB 80,000 yuan (USD 12,000) ;
Two Silver Awards, cash prize RMB 50,000 yuan (USD 7,500) per person;
Three Bronze Awards, cash prize RMB 30,000 yuan (USD 4,500) per person;
Six Excellence Awards Shortlisted Works and Winning Works
The shortlisted works will be exhibited in the 2018 Universal Watercolor Exposition.
The shortlisted works will be included in the excellent works collection of the 2018 Universal Watercolor Exposition.
The winning works will be awarded certificate and bonus of the 2018 Universal Watercolor Exposition.The award winners will be invited to participate in the Opening Ceremony and Awards Ceremony of the 2018 Universal Watercolor Exposition, the Opening Dinner, and the 3-days painting activities in Zhuji. The Organizing Committee will bear the accommodation and transportation expenses of the above activities.The artist of shortlisted works will be invited to participate in the Opening Ceremony and Awards Ceremony of the 2018 Inaugural Universal Watercolor Exposition, and the Opening Dinner. The Organizing Committee will bear the expenses of the Opening Dinner.

The artist of shortlisted works will receive a catalogue of the excellent works collection of the 2018 Universal Watercolor Exposition.

Participation Fee and Related Matters

Registration is free.

The Organizing Committee will bear the cost of framing works for all shortlisted works, and have the exhibition, publishing and publicity rights of the shortlisted works.

Participants should bear the cost of submitting the entry materials and sending the works. The works will be returned to the artist after the end of the exhibition.

To prevent accidental loss, it is recommended that exhibitor artists insure their own works during delivery.

This contribution invitation is legally bound .
