Opening ceremony of the Zhuji IWS International Watercolor Art Museum

News reports on the opening ceremony of the Zhuji IWS International Watercolor Art Museum and the 2nd “Following Masters” International Watercolor Masters Annual Exhibition

The opening ceremony of the Zhuji IWS International Watercolor Art Museum and the 2nd “Following Masters” International Watercolor Masters Annual Exhibition was held on October 5, 2017 at the Zhuji civic park, Zhuji city, China. Zhuji is the hometown of Xishi, who is one the four Chinese beauties, and the ancient capital of the Yue state. This event was hosted by the Zhuji Municipal People’s government and the IWS (International Watercolor Society), and was undertaken by the Zhuji Municipal Press & Publication Bureau, IWS China and Shanghai Hong Museum.

At the ceremony, Ms. Yue Yu (俞越), vice mayor of Zhuji Municipal People’s government addressed a welcome speech, Mr. Liu Yi (柳毅),vice chairman of International Watercolor Society, chairman of IWS China and Mr. Atanur Dogan, chairman of International Watercolor Society made speeches as well. A group of famous watercolor painters from all over the world, along with special guests, Chinese watercolor enthusiasts and Zhuji citizens witnessed the installation of the Inaugural Universal Watercolor Exposition host, the opening ceremony of the Zhuji IWS International Watercolor Art Museum, the Inaugural Universal Watercolor Exposition jury’s swearing in ceremony, as well as the opening ceremony of the 2nd “Following Masters” International Watercolor Masters Annual Exhibition. They also witnessed the strong support from the Zhuji municipal government in promoting the cultural scene of the city and for the prosperity and development of the world watercolor painting.

and watercolor enthusiasts from all over the country and representatives of Zhuji artists association. Over 70 famous watercolor artworks feasted Zhuji citizens and watercolor art lovers from all over the country with the best quality in the world. The opening ceremony of the Zhuji IWS International Watercolor Art Museum and the 2nd “Following Masters” International Watercolor Masters Annual Exhibition was a great success.

The success of this event has spearheaded the assembly of contemporary world watercolor painting, the 2018 Inaugural Universal Watercolor Exposition

The Inaugural Universal Watercolor Exposition was proposed by China with an Olympic concept of watercolor painting: “to create a high-end platform, to appreciate the watercolor classics, to discover new talents, to highlight top quality, and to be a leading force in watercolor development”; to spur the spirit of the Olympics to greater heights through watercolor art.  It is also to fulfill the ‘unity, friendship, peace and progress’, which is the common goal of all mankind to aspire for and to pursue, so as to sound the assembly mark of contemporary world watercolor painting.

The 2018 Inaugural Universal Watercolor Exposition will be held in Zhuji city, which has a long history, aggregation of human life and solid economic basis. It will be sited at the beautiful Xishi Grand Theatre. At present, preparations are underway with the strong support from the Zhuji municipal government, Hong Art Museum and people from various circles. Call for the Inaugural Universal Watercolor Exposition has been released. There will be a logo, theme song, and mascot reflecting urban cultural character.

Up to now, IWS has more than 90 member states. The 2018 Inaugural Universal Watercolor Exposition will become the biggest event held by IWS for the world watercolor art. Just like the Olympic Games bringing the dream of speed and strength, the watercolor “Olympics” will also spur our discipline to greater heights.
